DO WE HAVE TO USE CERTAIN VENDORS AND IS A PLANNER REQUIRED?
You have the option to choose your own vendors when booking an event at Henderson Acres or use our pre-approved, preferred vendor list. All we require is a licensed (day of event) wedding/event planner and that catering and bar service both be licensed and insured. If they are new to the facility, we also ask they submit a vendor application for approval.
WHAT KINDS OF SEND-OFFS ARE ALLOWED?
We allow a variety of send-offs on-site; however, they must be environmentally friendly and preapproved by Henderson Acres. For the safety of the forest, grounds, and home, we do not allow the following send offs under any circumstances: fireworks, sparklers, wishing lanterns, helium balloons, or any uncontrolled fire/flame.
WHAT DO WE DO IF INCLEMENT WEATHER?
Outdoor venues are a very popular wedding/event venue decision but like all outdoor venues, there is always a risk of weather at Henderson Acres. Henderson Acres weddings and events have access to the house to seek emergency shelter, but is not large enough to host an indoor event. Local event rental companies can put up a tent, or have one on rain reserve. The outdoor reception patio is not covered.
o The reception patio will have a retractable cover for inclement weather by Spring 2024.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN MY BOOKING RATE?
For single day wedding and events, your rate includes 1PM-11PM private access to the grounds, the iconic three-level home with indoor bar, 1700+ square foot reception deck, Appalachian stone ceremony stage, lower parking, and the backyard pasture with 180 degree long and short range mountain views. Also included is an on-site day-of-event manager, assistance in ideas for your perfect set-up, and use of the property prior to your event for engagement, bridal, event, or family photos (prior authorization required to assure the property is open for a photo shoot).
The Weekend Wedding & Stay includes:
A three-night stay at the 5-bedroom home (maximum 14 guests overnight, no exceptions). Thursday/Friday/Saturday night stay, with a late Sunday check-out to allow for brunches and an unrushed departure. Check in 3PM Thursday, Check Out 4PM Sunday. Everything included in the single day wedding/event. Additional nights can be added, if available, for $500/night.
MAY I LEAVE MY CAR OVERNIGHT?
Yes, please do! We are not responsible for your car or belongings but Henderson Acres is located in a very safe area. Please try to pick-up your car by NOON the next day. All guests whom are driving to the venue should park in the lower parking area. There is ample parking.
WHAT FORMS OF GROUP TRANSPORTATION WOULD FIT THE VENUE?
Full size charter buses or school buses would be too large to make its way to the top of the property. They could be used to get to the lower parking area but the walk up to the top home, ceremony/reception/pavilion is much too steep for the average person. A smaller form of transportation would be needed in that scenario to get from the lower parking to the top. Henderson Acres will have pick-up truck and or a SUV to assist where possible, but not guaranteed for the entire arrival and departure period. Shuttles buses, smaller buses (think 24-28 footers), sprinter vans, oversized SUVS, and vans will all fit for the journey to the top,
MAY I TENTATIVELY HOLD A DATE?
You may request a date hold and we will hold that date for 1 week. If the date is challenged by another renter, you will be given 48 hours’ notice to secure the date with an initial 50% deposit and signed contract. Your date is not finalized until we have the initial 50% deposit and signed contract.
